The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Transition Comes After Poor Response
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster unveiling last fall.
Recently, 2K president a key figure informed employees about this organizational change through an internal memo, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a more defined vision.
The president noted that the team is now overhauling the project with a renewed focus, aiming to address community desires.
A Pattern of Strategic Acquisitions
This announcement echoes a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock development group.
Below is the full message from Ismailer's memo:
Hello Everyone—
I know you all just finished your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I shared you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most driven and talented creators we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to persist.”
Given your hard work and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was revealing. It validated the appeal of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the requirement for a clearer identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve progressed. You took the feedback to mind and overhauled the title with a refreshed goal - one that’s positioned to achieve its ambition to our fans.
The trust in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the remarkable advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. After several months of discussions, he comes aboard us on next week.
His management and experience in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having devoted the recent years creating and overseeing some of the most well-known series in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in welcoming him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to continue observing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the time to ahead.
The President

"Face the competition with new abilities, stakes, and obstacles that evolve every round. Do you withdraw carefully with your valuable rewards? Alternatively go big, gamble everything, and trust your group can achieve the highest spot? The decision is up to you."
Project Ethos has not yet received an official release date or supported systems, but enthusiasts can anticipate more updates as development progresses.
